Latino Community Center collaborates with WE Energies in serving as an agency to assist We Energies customers with the Positive ID program. This program was designed by WE Energies to prevent customers from name-switching on service accounts and to reduce fraudulent account activity. An individual who is advised to apply for service in person is done so for specific reasons. This individual either (1) has never been on service before, or (2) has inconsistent payment history on a WE Energies account, or (3) is planning on moving to an address with a high past due account balance, or (4) is planning on moving to an address where there is a pending disconnect notice. The individual is required to go to an authorized agency to apply for service in person.
When an individual comes to LCC, they are provided with an application (English/Spanish), which needs to be filled out on site only, copies of proper identification are made and a Thank You letter on behalf of WE Energies is handed to the customer. LCC will forward the application and supporting information to the Positive Identification Department at WE Energies where the documentation is reviewed and a decision is made upon the information received.
